Washington is an at-will state where an employer can fire its employees for any reason or no reason at all, so long as the termination is not based on the employee being a member of a protected class, i.e. because of their age, race, gender, ethnicity, etc. An employee can also not be terminated for reporting conduct they believe to be harassment or discrimination even if the reported conduct turns out not to be harassment or discrimination.
